The Battle of 1336
The Victory that Defined a Lineage
In the 14th century, the Mewar region faced its darkest hour under the Delhi Sultanate. It was Rana Hammir Singh, the savior of the Sisodia clan, who rose to challenge the might of Muhammad bin Tughlaq.
The Battle of Singoli (1336 AD)
The decisive engagement took place at Singoli. In a masterstroke of guerrilla warfare and cavalry charges, the Rajput forces not only defeated the Sultanate army but captured the Sultan himself. This victory marked the resurgence of Rajput power in India.
The Birth of the Thikana
Following the victory, the strategic fort of Singoli was annexed into Mewar. The high-ranking chieftains entrusted with holding this frontier against future invasions were granted the Jagir (estate) of Singoli. Over centuries, the descendants of these guardians adopted the title of their estate, becoming the Singholi Rajputs.
